oberwart, burgenland

ein videoprojekt mit einer romafamilie in oberwart. das videobild zeigte anfangs das bild einer in einem spiegel gespiegelten romafamilie, in einer idyllischen burgenländischen landschaft sitzend. ein langsamer videozoom ging nach und nach über die grenzen des spiegels hinaus – so ergab sich sich ein irreales bild inmitten der landschaft.

a video project with a roma family in oberwart. at the start the video frame showed the image of a roma family reflected in a mirror, sitting in an idyllic landscape in burgenland. A slow video zoom went beyond the edges of the mirror – an unreal picture in the middle of the landscape emerged.

der künstler thematisierte über ein elektronisches medium ein soziokulturelles wie ein kulturpolitisches anliegen. unterschiedliche gesellschaftliche größen wurden in visuelle größenverhältnisse übersetzt und erzeugten somit ein bild der realen wirklichkeit. die quantitative diskrepanz zwischen bevölkerungsgruppen wurde im und durch das medium sichtbar.

the artist used an electronic medium to address the theme of a sociocultural and cultural political issue. different social values were translated into visual proportions and thus produced an image of actual reality. the quantitative discrepancy between sections of the population was made visible in and by the medium.
